Announcement

There have been a lot of things going on behind the scenes here the last month or so. I have been so busy that I even forgot to take a picture of the mini sweater that I made for a swap last month. All I can show you is the adorable version I received in the mail which now graces our little apartment tree.

Our big news is this: after over four years in Greater China, we are now moving back to the United States. We found a place to live two weeks ago and the dog shipped out Monday. Which means there is no turning back now.

We have a busy month ahead - getting ready for the move, wrapping things up at work, saying goodbye to beloved friends. But there are fun things in store too, like a last hurrah weekend in Macao, Christmas at the Grand Hyatt and a long trip home, which includes a stop-off at our friends' wedding in Goa.

I have decided to stop blogging after this month, though. For some reason, I feel more anonymous blogging in Taiwan and China than in the United States. I just don't have the energy to face the creepy creeps who may come out of the woodwork once we land stateside. People who figure out where you live by the photos you post or the words you write about playgrounds and restaurants. I will continue to write here in December as we transition out of Taiwan, but the beginning of January will mark the official end of this endeavor.

It has been a long, fun ride. Four years as expats and three of blogging. Thanks for joining me.

Congratulations on your newest endeavor and good luck! I'm sorry to hear you don't wish to continue blogging but I understand that having a child and the internet do not go together well. I've been reading your blog for at least a year now and it'll be hard not to wait for another picture of Frankie or Gioia and a piece of life overseas. My husband and I are moving to Hong Kong for an internship next summer and may be staying in East Asia following that so reading about how a family deals with being over there has been a support I didn't know I needed. I wish you luck and I'll read through your last post!

Thanks for sharing your lives for as long as you did and enjoy the next phase of your lives.

ps... If you decided to post pictures of Goa this reader would love it (my daughter is from India and I love seeing photos from there)

I have really enjoyed seeing your crafts on your blog. Perhaps in the future you would consider another blog with only your crafts? Good luck with your move.

Wow! I will miss hearing about your family's adventures, checking your blog for updates has been part of my daily morning routine. I especially enjoyed your photos, they're just beautiful. I share your concern about privacy issues, but you could always have access to your blog password protected (that's how mine is set up so that my family and friends in other countries can keep up with us). In any case, thanks for allowing me these glimpses into your life, I wish you all the best.

Congratulations on the big move. I will be sad when I no longer can check in on your wonderful family. It has been a pleasure watching your family's journey over the last two years. I can't believe Gioia has been home that long, I just went into the archive to look at the date you received your referral and spied photos of Miss Gioia. Boy has she grown up!

Your journey has inspired me in many ways. Both to get back in touch with my creative side and to keep the idea of raising my family abroad someday alive.

Thank you for allowing me to come on this journey with your family... if you're ever in the Pacific Northwest I'd love to say hi in person.

Best of luck in your move and the rest of your journey through life.
